Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a torrid year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial title after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has won 21 championships at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

But the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an enhanced service.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his first tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet saved four initial break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
