A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people injured by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
